Kevin McAleenan, director interino del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de Estados Unidos, renunció al cargo. Su nombre es reconocido en Guatemala por haber sido el funcionario estadounidense que firmó el acuerdo migratorio de Tercer País Seguro.
A través de su cuenta de Twitter McAleenan hizo publica la dimisión. Escribió un agradecimiento al presidente Donald Trump y brevemente dijo que han existido "enormes avances para mitigar la seguridad fronteriza y la crisis humanitaria".

McAleenan ha liderado la política migratoria y fronteriza de Estados Unidos en los últimos meses. Antes de asumir el cargo que ahora deja era jefe de la Patrulla Fronteriza. También fue el cuarto ministro de Seguridad Nacional de Trump.
El presidente Trump también tuiteó al respecto diciendo que McAleenan ha realizado un trabajo excepcional.
